Product Description
A Novotest T-U3 UCI hardness tester is a type of portable hardness testing device used to measure the hardness of metals. It works by utilizing ultrasonic waves to determine the hardness of a material without causing any damage to the surface being tested. The UCI method is particularly useful for testing the hardness of small, thin, or complex-shaped parts where traditional hardness testing methods like Rockwell or Brinell might be impractical.
The basic operation of a Novotest T-U3 UCI hardness testing device involves placing a probe with a Vickers diamond indenter against the surface of the material to be tested. An ultrasonic pulse is then emitted, causing the indenter to penetrate the surface to a specified depth. The device measures the contact impedance between the indenter and the material, which correlates with the material's hardness. This measurement is then displayed on the tester's screen, providing a hardness value.
